Flat feet in the child

When a child has flat feet, we can know through the absence of plantar curvature, that is, the entire sole of the foot is in contact with the ground when walking. The flat foot can manifest as of 2 years of age and the cause is the plantar adipose increase, the fat does not allow to see the arch of the foot.

In many children, after three years, this fat begins to dry showing the plantar arch, so, until he is four years old, evolution is not well appreciated.

When this fat does not dry out, then it is necessary that you consult with an orthopedist, since he is the most qualified to determine if these flat feet are accompanied by some more anomaly, as is the case of the vague heel, this anomaly is a deviation that Sometimes it accompanies the flatfoot. There are cases in which the curvature corrects itself, without the need for any type of treatment. It should also be taken into account that when a child begins to walk, he does not usually support his feet well on the ground and often arches his legs a lot, this is normal, they are problems that usually disappear as the child grows.

The insoles replace in many cases the orthopedic shoes that were used to correct this problem, although there are cases in which they are needed. If you see that your child has flat feet, go to the pediatrician or orthopedist, who will inform you and help you solve the problem.
