Digital ID "Zero Year" for newborns in Argentina

Since the beginning of 2012, Newborns in Argentina may have their National Identity Document "Zero Year", which include photo and fingerprint of the newborn and mother's signature. It is a more modern and secure system that will ensure the protection of the identity of newborns.

It is intended to digitize all hospitals in the province of Buenos Aires so that when the family leaves the hospital, they do so with their birth certificate and the process of the DNI already carried out.

The parents are asked for the birth certificate and their information, the name chosen for the baby and then a fingerprint and a photo are taken, all digitally so they can immediately be seen on a screen .

The mother is then asked to sign, and her rubric will appear on the back of the digital ID. The baby's data remains on a national basis and is associated with the parents' data.

The Government of the province of Buenos Aires has 220 offices in which you can process for free the digital ID "Zero Year". The procedure can be carried out in all digitized delegations of the Provincial Registry of Persons and in the Rapid Documentation Centers, the list of which can be consulted at www.gob.gba.gov.ar, or by calling the toll-free number 0800-999-6304.
