All about breastfeeding on mobile: the AEP Breastfeeding Committee launches its app

There are many fears and issues we have when breastfeeding our baby, especially the first few weeks. Having at your fingertips all the necessary information for the doubts that arise every day in our breastfeeding is the desire of many mothers that is realized with the breastfeeding application launched by the AEP Breastfeeding Committee.

This is a free application recommended for parents and professionals in order to promote breastfeeding, disseminating updated knowledge on the subject and with the guarantee of the specialist professionals who created it.

When installed, the system will ask us to register as a father or mother, professional or support group and we can also put the name and age (or expected date of birth) of the baby so that the information they send us is more personalized. Once we access as parents, we can go to the information in different sections:

  • Breastfeeding in stages: pregnancy, first days, first months or sixth month. Depending on the moment you are, you will see the most appropriate content.

  • Breastfeeding techniques. Because a good technique allows to maintain milk production and prevents cracks and pain. Here we find data on grip, postures and other recommendations.

  • Parents: recommended habits for the mother during the period of breastfeeding, the role of the father and family members.

  • Lactation Recommendations. With varied topics such as vitamin supplements, offer water to the baby, use of the pacifier, colecho, galactogogues ...

  • False myths about breastfeeding, divided into three sections: aesthetics and nutrition, breastfeeding techniques and production and quantity.

  • Most frequent problems Here we find topics related to flat or inverted nipple, cracks and engorgement, mastitis, infant colic, weight gain of the baby, breast rejection, my son bites me ...

In this software we find all information about breastfeeding quickly and intuitively and we can also see news from the AEP and store daily data very useful that can be consulted later in the "statistics" section in graphic format.

Breastfeeding AEP includes, if we wish, a notification service to keep the user updated (parents, professionals or support groups) with the latest developments in the field of breastfeeding and news of interest adapted to their profile.

Anyway, I think it will be a useful application for many mothers and will be quite successful by the professionals that support it. Of course, do not forget to consult your midwife, pediatrician or support group if you have doubts and need that personalized attention that is occasionally required.
