Dogs are very affectionate animals, and as such, they become protectors of their "relatives", including children, with whom they end up creating a very special bond. I suppose it is innate on both sides, because young children have a passion for animals and they are very interested in young children, so it is quite logical that dogs end up becoming inseparable friends and, at the same time, as I say , in protectors.
The child seems to want to say something, but the tone in which he says it well can be confused with a groan, with a claim for help. It does not become crying, but it can be interpreted by the dog as a call.
And what does the dog do? Well extend that call, that request for attention. The child asks the dog and the dog asks the adult, who instead of paying attention is recording the scene.
