During the first year of our children's life, it is common for each month to celebrate and make a brief summary or compilation of the most important things that happened during that time. By the time they are twelve months old, our baby feels lonely, has started complementary feeding, has taken or is about to take his first steps and probably has already said his first words.
When our baby's first birthday has arrived, we realize how fast it has been and how much our babies have changed in those twelve months. As they are still young, some parents choose not to have a party, but something different to commemorate their first return to the sun. I share some ideas to celebrate your baby's first birthday.
First birthday party, yes or no?
Because when they reach their first year they are still babies, many parents think it doesn't make much sense to have a big birthday party because some children may be disturbed by noise or see more people than usual.
On the other hand, many choose to party because in addition to celebrating their baby's first birthday, they celebrate having reached their first year as parents. In fact, you get to joke that the first party is actually for parents and not so much for the baby.
In our personal case, we decided to have a small party with family and close friends because we felt that our daughter's first birthday deserved that we make one. And although we all enjoy it, she doesn't remember anything at all from that first party, so today I think we would have been able to do without it and have done something small as a family.
The truth is Each family is free to choose the way they want to celebrate a child's first birthday and it is equally valid to have a birthday party or not.
What if we don't want to party?
In case you decide to do something different from the typical birthday party, either because you consider your baby to be small, because of economics or because they live far from their families, I share some ideas.
Make a photo session

A beautiful way to commemorate and see how much your baby has grown is to have a photo shoot. It can be a session only of him with a particular topic or a nice family session to celebrate all the achievements and memories they created next to their son during the first year.
Plan a family outing

A fun option to celebrate and remember the first birthday can be a visit to the nearby beach or to a park within your city. Get organized and set aside that whole day to spend it together and relax outdoors. They can even prepare something delicious to eat now that their baby already eats solids and have a picnic if the weather allows.

This is the celebration that never fails and the "one of a lifetime". Invite only the close family: grandparents, uncles, cousins and have a nice family day. They can organize for everyone to bring something to eat and make a buffet at home. Don't forget cake!
Disconnect from the world and do nothing

But how anything? That's right, nothing. Set that day aside for you alone and do nothing. Stay at home, in pajamas. Enjoy and enjoy being alone with your baby, without anyone else. Forget about coming and going so busy from daily life and dedicate that day with your child. Time flies and occasionally it is good to pause the rest of the world and enjoy our children when they are little. The mission of that day is simple: to live exclusively with your family.
Regardless of the options you choose to make to celebrate your baby's first birthday, remember that the most important thing is to have a good time with the family and celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of that special person in their lives.
