Lactalis announces the withdrawal in Spain of all its products manufactured in the affected French plant

After the massive recall of products was announced globally, Lactalis Nutrición Iberia, the subsidiary of the Lactalis group in Spain, in coordination with the French and Spanish authorities, has decided voluntarily withdraw from the market all nutrition products manufactured at the Craon plant (France) regardless of the date of manufacture.

Withdrawal affects all lots of a total of 37 references of your products from Powdered milk of Puleva Baby, Sanutri and Damira brands, as well as Puleva Baby cereals, powdered milk for metabolisms of Taranis Nophenyl and a nutrition module of Matodextridine (see in detail below). It is a measure of "maximum precaution" that the company takes after knowing that a baby contracted salmonella in Spain with the same type of strain of the cases appeared in France.

Recall that this is the third mass recall of the company's products in our country. On December 11, Lactalis Nutrition Iberia informed its decision to withdraw several batches of milk formulas from the Spanish market manufactured from February 15, as a precaution, after Lactalis France did the same in that country after the appearance of several cases of salmonellosis in France.

Days later, on December 21 carried out a new withdrawal that affected an additional 720 lots. To date, the company has blocked and collected more than 550,000 units of product in Spain, and now decides to withdraw all the lots that have left the Craon factory because of the risk that they are contaminated with salmonellosis regardless of the date they were manufactured.

Products affected by withdrawal

You should not consume any of the products detailed in this list, regardless of the lot or the date of manufacture. The company asks consumers of its products to check these references and, if you have any, proceed to its return. Lactalis remembers that the consumption of the rest of Sanutri, Damira and Puleva products is totally safe. This includes both Sanutri and Damira cereals and cookies, as well as Sanutri Velactin soy formulas and Puleva Peques brand liquid milk, since all of them are manufactured in Spain.

A boy with salmonellosis in Spain

In the statement, the company confirms the case of an infant affected by salmonella in Spain, which according to the analyzes carried out would be "related to the same type of strain of the cases that appeared in France" linked to the consumption of their infant milk.

The child, so far the only confirmed case related to the consumption of contaminated products, was treated at the Basque hospital in Cruces and has already been discharged. The total number of children affected so far are 37 cases of babies affected by the bacteria, 35 in France, one in Spain and one in Greece under investigation. All had gastrointestinal symptoms, although there were no cases with bloodstream infection or meningitis.
