Jelly, a healthier sweet

On many occasions children enjoy desserts more than main dishes, and to take advantage of that, we must offer sweets that also provide various nutrients.

Fruits are a very favorable resource for children and for parents' peace of mind because our child eats something healthy, another option is jellies. The texture, flavors and color offered conquers the little ones.

Many times it has been thought that the jelly was a treat, but it is not so, because the gelatin is a substance of animal origin that provides protein, although they are not as good as those of meat, fish, eggs or dairy, as it is obtained from the collagen found in the bones and tissues of animals, being lacking some essential amino acids. You can also opt for vegetable gelatin. When offering jello to children, it is preferable to opt for the traditional one, because today there are several varieties on the market to which abundant amounts of sugar, glucose or fructose syrup, etc. have been added, while that the natural ones are low in calories and contain no fat. The recommendation is to look carefully at the product labeling.

To prepare a jelly we do not have much complication, just add to the powdered product water, milk, yogurt or juices to achieve an appetizing sweet, and if you want to contribute more vitamins to your child's dessert or snack, you can also add pieces of fruit, It is very practical to try new flavors.

But do not think that this dessert can replace the fruit ration that the child should consume, although it will always be healthier than a cake or any type of industrial pastry.

Given the simplicity of its preparation, it is also a perfect excuse to introduce your child to the kitchen, do you dare?
