The electronic ear that controls noise

If you work in a hospital, or have simply been visiting a family member, you will have been able to verify that the noise level in the plants and rooms of the hospitals it is much larger than it should exist, even with warning signs and staff care, but between visits, telephones, televisions ...

In Intensive Care Units, where there are different types of monitors, fans and pumps, the noise is much higher.

In children, this can become a stressful factor, especially in neonates, and can hinder their healing and development, since long-term stress plays a harmful role in the body.

To be able to control the noise level in these units, a new help has been added that will notify you of the decibel level that exists in the room where you are. This machine has just been incorporated into the Infant Maternal Intensive Care Unit of the Granada hospital, the first Andalusian center that tries to control its sound level. They call it the "electronic ear", because it is an ear-shaped sound level meter, although technically it is called" SoundShip ". It informs through the lights of green, amber or red colors, the level of noise that exists, warning when the threshold is being exceeded and can be harmful .

This measure is part of many others that are being incorporated to improve the comfort and health of newborns in these Units.
