Is the male contraceptive pill near?

Mexican scientists say they are very close to getting a drug that would cause men to ejaculate without sperm, that is, a kind of birth control pill for men.

It would be a revolution in the world of contraceptives and could change the history of birth control, even if we don't think that "change" has arrived. So far, it has only been experimented with rats and, something fundamental, has not yet been demonstrated if the contraceptive effect is reversible.

That is to say, that, as with birth control pills for women, when they stop taking it, it remains fertile.

At the moment it is known that the drug does not generate side effects such as weight gain, low testosterone or decreased sexual desire. The drug used by the research team is ATD, a substance that alters the cell cycle of sperm production, without affecting testosterone production. But as we say research is at a very early stage.

Anyway, sooner or later we will have more news about it, since Mexico is not the only country in the world where research is being carried out to develop this contraceptive for men. There are studies in countries such as India or Australia quite advanced, although so far they have not been able to obtain 100% reliable results.

Until then, we will not know if it will be a daily pill, if it will have other side effects, if it will be successful among men ...
