The importance of using the stroller brakes when you are stopped

It is very likely that you have already seen this video since it is one of the most surprising news of yesterday. This is a recording in which a mother, clueless, realizes too late that her baby goes straight to the tracks not having put the brakes on the stroller.

The baby and his stroller fall with such bad luck that they are immediately overwhelmed by a train. At first glance we all glimpse a terrible tragedy, however the baby was unharmed, although with a blow to the head caused by the fall to the road.

Seeing the video I remembered a situation that I experienced when I was little. My mother left me a moment in charge of my little brother, who slept in a stroller. I would be about 7 or 8 years old and my mother told me: "Above all, don't let go, and if you let go, put the brake on it." I had no intention of releasing him, but I saw my other brother playing nearby and wanted to go with him. I let go of the stroller for a moment and realized that I was standing, not moving, despite not being held back or held by me.

"Bah, you don't have to stop it, it doesn't move," I thought.

I went to play with my brother and felt a bad feeling that made me turn. The stroller had begun to move and was rolling towards the end of an esplanade in which there was a small ravine (we were in the holiday village). I ran as much as my legs allowed me and with my heart in my throat I grabbed the handlebar of the stroller again. I never told my mother, but I discovered the importance of using stroller brakes when standing. I'm sure the video's mom has learned it too.
