A study has been commissioned to measure the pollution that is generated inside a car when a person smokes and they registered three times higher levels to the limit recommended by the WHO (World Health Organization).
In view of these measurements smoking in the car should be prohibited when there are children, since they are especially susceptible to tobacco smoke. Exposing them to such a level of pollution in an enclosed space is, at least, irresponsible, Do not you believe it?.
Smoking is already prohibited in playgrounds and in public places such as bars, restaurants, where children were inevitably exposed to smoke, but what about private spaces such as private cars or houses?
Children traveling in the back seats of the car receive the toxic substances that reach them directly from the smoker. Although the windows are opened or the air conditioner is turned on, they have a faster breathing rate than adults do and a less developed immune system that makes them unable to avoid exposure to secondhand smoke.
The British Medical Association believes that smoking in cars should be prohibited when there are children, but being a private space, it is very difficult to control.
