Holidays with children in Mallorca

We were leaving for a couple of days on vacation with the children to a cooler place beyond our borders, and today we stayed in Spain and we travel with children to Mallorca, a traditional place to spend the summer and that has a lot to offer families.

Not surprisingly, we recently recommended the island as one of the best beach destinations to go with children, with many possibilities to choose from on the coast, although we will know many more places apart from the beaches.

If you stay in the north of the island, on the beaches of Alcúdia, Ca'n Picafort, Pollença ... we cannot miss a visit to S'Albufera, a Natural Park that hides many attractions in flora and fauna. Of course, it is better to go on days that do not get much sun and go well protected so as not to burn and with provisions in case the visit is extended.

This northern area of Mallorca It has great beaches, miles of white sand and turquoise waters, although there are also smaller and charming coves. From here we can take boat trips to get to know Formentor, the bay of Alcúdia ... even approach Menorca. By car we can also go to the viewpoint of Sa Creueta or Colomer in the Formentor Peninsula.

Walk through the walls of Alcúdia, through the streets of Pollença, climb to the hermitage of Artà, go to Castell de Sant Pere, walk through Cala Ratjada, approach Manacor and the famous Caves of Drach or the less famous but curious Coves d 'Artà ... are other possibilities in the north of Mallorca.

A well-known tourist attraction in Mallorca takes us to the center of the island, to Sineu. In this locality, the traditional market is held on Wednesdays, which includes animals, handicrafts, gastronomy ... Children often like to get lost among animals and enjoy the hustle and bustle.

In the center of the island we can also climb to Randa and in the Monastery of Cura get fabulous views of Mallorca on clear days. Even the island of Cabrera.

To the south of the island we go to the Colònia de Sant Jordi to take the boat that will take us to the Cabrera National Park (with prior reservation, as there are limited places every day), a trip that will not disappoint.

The Sierra de Tramuntana

And if we are going to the Serra de Tramuntana (We have to go, for something it is a World Heritage Site) we can not miss some of the most beautiful villages in Spain, such as Valldemossa (on the way up you can stop at the famous glass factory to see how it works live), where to taste Potato coke and almond horchata.

Other incredible villages are Deià, Pollença, Esporles… We also have special places along the Serra de Tramuntana such as Cala Deià, the Lluc Monastery and its botanical garden, the reservoir between Gorg Blau mountains, Sa Calobra, the Sa viewpoint Foradada, the Ses Ànimes Viewpoint ...

One of the best known tourist routes is the Sòller train, which is taken in Palma and takes us in its vintage wagons to the beautiful town of Sòller and the port. But we can also drive to Sòller, admire his church and try the orange ice cream or any of the delicious frozen varieties, and take only the journey to the port.

Palma de Mallorca with children

Of course you cannot miss a visit to Palma de Mallorca. Stroll through its streets, through the Parc de la Mar with the impressive Cathedral in the background, tour the Royal Palace of l'Almudaina with its chivalrous atmosphere and excellent views of the Paseo Marítimo ... are some of the interesting proposals.

I have visited the Es Baluard Museum with my daughters, and that of the Fundació Joan Miró (this one a little further from the city, but in a formidable environment), and both are highly recommended to enjoy with the family.

Of course, children will love to climb Bellver Castle, one of the few round-floor in Europe, and they will feel like knights and princesses dominating the city of Palma from above.

In the center of the city there are several parks and the lively streets of Sant Miquel or Olms will take us to some traditional shops. The Plaza Mayor or the Gran Hotel with its modernist story architecture or its exhibitions can also be interesting.

Do not forget that in Palma (and also in Manacor) there are sessions of Cinebebés, cinema so that parents and companions can watch current movies accompanied by their babies and children.

I have done all these activities with my daughters, but there are others that have not yet arrived and yet I think they will love the children. I speak of the Natura Park Zoo, water parks from Aqualand in El Arenal and Magaluf, Western Park in Magaluf or Hidropark in Port d'Alcúdia, to the Marineland aquarium and dolphinarium in Calvià…

The Farm in Esporles is a kind of theme park in a real environment of a "possession" or farmhouse, an old manor house to learn about traditional Mallorcan life combining folklore, art and gastronomy.

In addition, in many places on the island there is the possibility of horse riding and of course all kinds of water attractions and sports for children and adults.

I hope that these tips for family tourism on the island will be useful. In short, there are many possibilities for enjoy a holiday with children in Mallorca, you will miss days, for sure, and you will want to return. But that's just it…
