Do you know how to create a 'reading corner' in your homes?

As we advanced yesterday, today we are going to invite you to dedicate a special place in the house to read. It will be the place where we will all let our fantasy fly, to consult definitions in the dictionary, to get excited and to know animals that we have never seen before.

To encourage reading habits in children it is important that a space in the house is dedicated only to this end, although later there are books in the bedrooms, also in the games room, and even on the terrace table.

With this we will ensure that when children need a book they know where their 'reading corner' is, and also that they realize that they can stay there enjoy the books without anyone bothering them.

Having a considerable number of books and reference material at home is also a decisive factor for children to become fond of and find 'it is natural' to approach literature

General criteria for organizing the space:

  • That the books are within reach

  • Get the place well lit (preferably with natural light).

  • To procure that the kids are comfortable: a set of suitable table and chairs in size, some cushions distributed on a carpet, an armchair, and even a mat (I know that many of us would sleep with a book in hand and lying down, but one of my children reads - and much - in that position, that's why I know it's not an inconvenience).

  • We can get decoration that is relaxing and invite to go to 'our corner of reading': some plant, painting with children's motifs but painted in soft colors, a puppet chest so that they can represent the stories if they like, etc ...

  • It is very important that the site where it is read is in a place since it is not possible to visually access television or other elements that can cause distractions. Nor should it be located in a 'passage zone'.

But above all remember: the most important thing is that we are able to create our own style That is the style that responds to the needs of each family. Because in practice it doesn't matter if the reading space is a corner of the children's room or the toy house on the terrace, it doesn't matter if the books are on the shelves of a living room or arranged in drawers in that attic that only serves for the little ones to find a little privacy.

And don't forget that if you read they will too, it is worth spending time to accompany this habit so healthy and recommended, because over time it will pay off.
