We highlight the problem of child sexual abuse: World Day for Prevention

Tomorrow is the International Day of the Rights of the Child, and of course that in Peques and Más we will give importance to such a marked date, however that day is not enough, to claim the need to reinforce preventive measures, educate families and adapt the legislation regarding a very serious problem of violation of Human Rights such as Child Sexual Abuse (ASI).

And as it is not enough, the Women's World Summit Foundation, proposed in 2000 the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse, which aims to create a meeting point, aimed at highlighting the problem of abuse . And that day is celebrated on November 19.

Today there is no absolute silence that helped to cover sexual abuse of children, but there are still many people who do not believe children, and the problem is still surrounded by a certain secret

We believe it is time to show that five out of 10 girls and six out of 10 boys could suffer these aggressions during their childhood, to speak loudly without fear, because if adults are afraid to speak, who will protect those victims with more reason than we are afraid?

Sometimes it seems that society intends to remain idly, this contributes in part to the fact that 80 percent of child sexual abuse is caused by people around children, that is, they remain hidden among house walls. But in my opinion that is a reason for us to realize the lack of protection in which children remain when the world for others turns while for them it becomes something like hell.

Children can be taught to protect themselves from these abuses and say NO in time, or to communicate them as soon as possible to a person you trust to solve the problem, minimizing the consequences. "The fears and resistance with which the phenomenon of ASI in our society has been confronted so far, generating defensive attitudes of rejection and concealment, only achieve an even greater isolation of children, who are often left alone before the trouble”: Margarita García from ASPASI.

It is necessary establish a culture of prevention, and eradicate fearSometimes parents (or one of the two) should receive help to deal with what happened, and for this there are local educational and social services that can help you; these will not always be useful because even today adults tend to deny the child. But on those occasions, there are private institutions such as RANA, Vicki Bernadet Foundation or ASPASI, which have specialized professionals who can guide the solution of the case.

We may also have to warn of cyber child sexual abuse, a phenomenon that extends.

An exploited child is the last link in a previous series of violations of your rights that have not been guaranteed. Violence, neglect, and abuse lead to child sexual exploitation, and although we do not believe it, it is something that can happen in any type of family, and regardless of the social position of the parents or their culture.

It may be hard to read this, but I agree with UNICEF in this sentence: 'in ASI, indifference means acceptance.' Do we not accept it?
